OPERATIONAL PLANNING PROVES BENEFICIAL FOR HOSPITAL CONSTRUCTION

August 30, 2012

Nicole LaBrecque, PC Construction's Director of Health Care Business DevelopmentPC Construction was recently awarded the construction management contract for a full inpatient floor renovation in an academic medical center. The floor is being re-designed and constructed to provide post partum care. The PC package contracted by the hospital includes assistance with operational and activation planning for the new department. This service is an additional value that PC provides and the feedback we have received from our clients has been very positive. And because we were brought on project so early in the process, we have been able to provide these services at the earliest conceptual phase of design and vet some potential operational impacts in time to modify the design.

PC CONSTRUCTION PAINTS FOR THE STRAND THEATRE

August 29, 2012

PC Construction Paints for the Strand TheatreA team of PC Construction employee-owners gathered last week at The Strand Theatre in Plattsburgh, New York, to provide hands-on assistance with the theatre’s ongoing restoration project. The fire escape stairwells, previously donated by Jeffords Steel and Engineering Company, were painted to match the historic exterior of the building.

When we met with Stephens and Leigh Mundy at The Strand earlier this summer, they pointed out a few outstanding exterior projects and we knew we could help. Plattsburgh is a close-knit community and several of our partners were happy to pitch in.

A FLIGHT OF A LIFETIME

Grace Emery 4

17-year-old Grace Emery

Every once in a while a person comes along who impacts your life and reinforces how precious every moment really is. For Don Ingham, PC’s Director of Flight Operations, that person was Grace Emery and he was one of the few lucky people who enjoyed her company in the final days of her life.

At the age of 8, Grace was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer that forms in the nerve tissue. Throughout her battle with cancer, she endured surgeries, a bone marrow transplant, and multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Her condition left her alternating between treatment and remission following diagnosis.

Don learned about Grace through his flight surgeon’s wife, Beth Schiller, who was completing a rotation at the Vermont Children’s Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care.
