TD BANK CALL CENTER ACHIEVES LEED PLATINUM STATUS

Posted on February 23, 2011 by Kevin Freeman, Director of Business Development

PC Construction’s renovation of a 60,000 square foot former department store into a world-class call center for TD Bank has achieved LEED Platinum status from the Green Building Certification Institute. This adds to PC Construction’s growing list of LEED projects ranging from Certified to Platinum.

The call center’s location and overall energy program contributed significantly to the high LEED point totals. The call center is located at the Auburn Mall and received points for community connectivity and alternative transportation with multiple bus lines serving the area. Bicycle storage and changing rooms were also incorporated into the design.

The call center’s energy performance features a combination of energy optimization measures for reducing lighting power through occupancy sensors and natural light sources, equipment efficiencies through the use of Energy Star appliances and equipment, as well as enhanced commissioning and submetering. The building will also be powered 100% by green power sources.

PC Construction’s overall construction management practices such as construction waste management, re-use of materials, building flushout, and low emitting materials strongly support the indoor environmental quality and material resources categories. The project also rated well for thermal comfort with high levels of individual control.

As sustainability and green building remains a driving force in the construction industry, it is refreshing to see clients such as TD Bank commit to LEED initiatives.
